Rajasthan is commonly known as a hot warm place. For most of the tourists or peoples who don't belong to this, they think Rajasthan as a desert or a very hot place. Most of the camels in India reside in Rajasthan which is mostly found in the western area. But In the southern region of this state, you can find some really cool and hilly places like Udaipur and Mount Abu.

First, we headed to Udaipur which is close to Mount Abu. It takes around 3 hours to reach Abu from Udaipur by bus. Though trains are also available accordingly. After reaching Abu road, which is the nearest station to Mount Abu, you have to hire a taxi or a bus to reach Mount Abu. it took about 25 minutes as it was 5 am in the morning so there was no traffic on the way.

As we were reaching close to this place, it was getting colder and colder. This coldness was tremendous. Now after a few minutes of sitting in a taxi, the time comes to lighten the load of the backpack, But it takes some time. Agents who get commission by hotel bookings come to you and showcase their hotel and price. I have seen 2-3 which took about an hour, but the last one was pretty good.
Personal tip - Only choose a hotel if you are comfortable with the price, they hike rates on weekends, so avoid to visit on weekends if possible.

Then by reaching there at mount Abu town, I came to know that a city tour bus is available at 9.:30 am to visit all the tourist places in the town. This turned me excited when I was drinking coffee in the balcony. As it was already 8 am so I had an hour to get ready.

After an hour the city tour bus came, and I was In. It took us to all the places to visit in the town. This sightseeing was included with a tour guide which was worth to know about places.Gurushikhar(Highest peak), Nakki lake, Sunset point, Lovers point, Achalgarh and Ganesh temple were the places which we headed to that day. It took 150 rupees per person to have this city tour for all the places but It's very tiring to visit all the places on the same day.

After this, it comes Brahma temple which is close to this lake. This temple is the most popular temple of Lord Brahma. The crowd at this temple is at peak mostly, but in months of Kartik(November-December)  crowd is more than I expected.

This town is highly commercialized because most of the foreign and Indian tourists come here. You can find rooms, bike and locals also sell herbal products like Gulkand(made of rose petals), green tea and many other antiques which are really attractive and not costly. Products are of good quality.
If you like to buy some clothes from the local market then it may be a nice place as many colorful clothes like printed t-shirts and pants are available at extremely low prices. If you can bargain then it may reduce your cost. Some shopkeepers don't allow bargaining.

Mandore temples and Garden

Mandore is a town which comes in jodhpur district of Rajasthan. This town was a ruling place of Jodhpur and its nearby places which is called "marwar region" of Rajasthan.

Jodhpur is a city of historical places and there are many things to do in the city like visiting crowded markets and trying some street foods which have typical marwari spicy taste. There are many memorials of royal families and temples in this town.

It is around 8-10 kms away from the city which is well connected with local transportation. I decided to reach here by a city bus. The bus was not in good condition as usual. There is no entry ticket to visit this place. It has a garden and some memorials of royal rulers and their families. Its is a large garden.

Near to entry gate there were some musicians who were playing musical instruments which is called "RawanHattha". When i asked the player about this instrument then he told me that its made of a coconut shell. Strings are fixed to this shell (i think three strings).
Cleanliness at this place is very good and visitors take care of this by using garbage bins.

Attractions :

  • Memorials of rulers
  • Garden
  • Temple outside garden
  • Lotus ponds

Its a really hot place as it was summer when i visited. It will be great if visit this city in winter if possible. This is definitely a nice place for selfie lovers too.

Lotus ponds are very cheerful to see and spend some time here in the garden. Though there is also a garden for kids near these temples. This garden has amusement park for kids which maybe attractive and entertaining if going there with kids.

Design and architecture inside these memorials is attractive and magnificent. It seems like they worked really hard to make such beautiful designs. The most surprising thing here is that there are not just one or two memorials , their are many with some unique and ravishing designs.

After visiting this garden and those memorials, there is another temple which is "Bheru ji temple" and also a amusement park for kids which i also had visited (i am not a kid by the way). Both are B-rolls of this place if you have enough time. It took around 3 hours to see all the things here in mandore as possible.

Don't Visit This City

This is the city is not good. It's more than that. Yes! I am talking about Udaipur, which is also called Lake city. As there are many lakes in this city which you will definitely love. Most of the lakes have landscapes nearby which make it magnificent. You will definitely adore by visiting this place.

If this city is too good then why I am saying not to visit. Wait! I have a reason behind this.
I went to this city a few days back and loved the many things, like peoples I met, places I have visited, and finally, those stunning landscapes which may change anything then You will never like to go back to home. that's why I am saying don't visit this city.

The best things I like here in Udaipur is a lake called Fateh Sagar lake and a palace( A Museum) called City palace museum. This is wonderful places. Even in one or two days is enough but it will be great if we at least spend 3 days. one or two days are like being in a hurry, to know more about any place we have to spend some time there to know about culture, history and many things which are not possible.

A fish aquarium in front of this lake is also a good place, where I saw some beautiful fish and aquatic creatures. for all that, you have to take a ticket and you see transparent boxes with colorful fishes. After it, its time for breakfast. There is a fine restaurant which serves delicious food and snacks which may give extra energy in the summertime.

You can know more about this lake - Fateh Sagar lake

This lake has a Bluish color, especially in the evening around 4-5 which is calm and gives some good vibes. The boat ride is also available in this lake, where they have electric speed boats which take you near to this blue lake. Many street foods are also available there, but I didn't try any. I just bought a water bottle.

After a few steps, it comes to a statue of a legend, "Maharana Pratap" who was a brave warrior and ruler of this region, cannot be forgettable. Udaipur is a city with maximum reserved forests, that's why it's beautiful. One reserved area is near to this lake too which is in front of this lake.

Another one is City Palace, which is a museum with some antiques and a palace which gives a royal feeling being constructed by rulers of Mewar region rulers. After taking the tickets, which costs 300 rs. for Indian tourists, I headed forward where everything was arranged in a systematic manner same like a palace. Those fountains, big royal looking gates, and finally the architecture, everything have something attachment with history and heritage.

You can know more about this city in detail - Gulab Bagh Udaipur

As it was the time when there is a "the festival" which is mostly celebrated by peoples of Mewar region of Rajasthan was being celebrated. In this, women have something(pots) on their head and go to a temple. Its celebrated by devotees of God. It's a festival which only women celebrate.

The city is no doubt crowded like other cities of Rajasthan as there are tourists too. Udaipur city attracts many tourists, even some starts Udaipur as its well connected with all other cities of India and easy to reach here.

Accommodation: I will recommend a hotel, Backpacker Panda, personally. As it's not heavy on the pocket to stay here otherwise you can find many good deals at online bookings. It costs around 250 rs a night which is fine I think with ac rooms. (Afterall it's in front of the lake fs)

*accommodation is only based on personal experience, no affiliations.

There is a telescope in mid of this lake. The curves of the landscapes may attract. Visiting the same place at different timings is best for me. Especially if its a lake, then two timings are fine, like morning and evening which will give both the sides of a place.

This is all I had. If have any queries or something to share, comment below to let me know about your thoughts.

Jaipur is city of festivals. there are many festivals which peoples celebrates here in this city. Some of these are organised by authorities and rest by customs and faith of peoples.

When i was in jaipur, i was passing through a palace, called jalmahal palace. I didn't knew about this festival. It was an Paper lantern festival. There were colorful lanterns which were given by an organisation in free. There were too many peoples all around. Then i realised there is some event.

As i was alone, so it was not possible for me to enlighten a paper lantern. There was a girl who was in a queue to bring lantern (As that event organiser was distributing) , then i asked her about detail of the event. She told me about it. then i asked her "Can i join you? "

She was thoughtful for few seconds, and then she said Yes. Then she introduced me with his brother and her another friend. It was nice to meet them.
As it was around 8 pm, it was dark and it was winter too. Then we were all set to enlighten those lanterns. There were many photographers and tourists. As such events are not being organised usually.

It was a nice view (As you can see in pictures) , that was an breathless view all around. Peoples were looking too happy and those faces were really inspiring. though it was not a usual festival which we celebrate but these small events may encourage us to work hard and keep on whatever we are doing.

We took many pictures, in phones and camera's. and it was a nice conversation with those new peoples. After all this it was over and we see off to everyone whom we met.

When i was going back at home, i again met a photographer (who is my friend now). If we meet new peoples, we can learn many good things which gives many experiences.
